The truth about alcohol and stress [I wish I knew sooner]
Y’all. 🔥 This is something I really WISH I’d known sooner:
Drinking alcohol to relax is like using gasoline to put out a fire.
Most people don’t know that even just drinking a few times a week can raise baseline levels of stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline…
This means that—even when you’re not actively drinking—the stress in your body is elevated. 🤯
👉 It’s harsh… but it’s true.
👉 And the IRONY for me, when I learned this, was staggering. Here I’d been drinking to COPE with stress… for over a decade… unknowingly making my stress and anxiety WORSE as a result.
Looking back, I know I was doing the best I could with the tools I had… but, man… I could’ve used some better tools. 😅
