Years That Ask Questions
“There are years that ask questions and years that answer.”
- Zora Neale Hurston
Life is in constant flux… but when you’re in a period of stress & hustle, it can feel really hard to hang onto perspective.
I know for me—back when I was living in full-on burnout—I was just trying to get through *each day* and couldn’t seem to access the capacity to see the big picture.
I didn’t have the mental energy to do anything other than slog my way through the day hit the F-it Button at happy hour [and zone out with a few drinks] before collapsing into bed trying to ignore the building feeling of DREAD of having to wake up and do it all over again the next day.
THIS SOUNDS VERY DRAMATIC. 😬 I know.
In a life replete with ALL KINDS of privilege—even as a Queer, Jewish woman—I had so much internal guilt and SHAME tied to my apparent “woe-is-me-ness” about my life.
But I didn’t understand the complexity of burnout back then.
And I definitely hadn’t made the connection between alcohol and stress [which only compounds ALL OF THE ISSUES] *ahem*
Sharing this now, in case there’s just one person out there that needs to hear it.
👉 If you’re having a hard time right now.
👉 If you’re facing this New Year and thinking “Oh no. I’m not ready.” Or “…I can’t keep doing this.”
👉 If this year has felt so full of questions with no answers in sight…
Please know that your answers are out there. Waiting to be found. And you will find them at just the right time.
THE FIRST STEP?
🤍 Take a deep breath.
🤍 Give yourself credit for all the ways you’re still showing up.
🤍 All the ways you’re holding it together, even if imperfect.
🤍 And give yourself the permission to try something new… to start small.
Start adding in little moments of rest in your day. …little bits of self-care.
And I’m not talking about the 🚨 Quick-fix 🚨 Check-out 🚨 F-it Button 🚨 sort of self-care like cocktails, pastries, or scrolling.
I’m talking about legitimate self. care.
💗 You’re doing great—I know you’re doing the best you can.
💗 And your answers are out there—I’m here when you’re ready to start looking.
Wishing you a beautiful New Year full of potential and hope. 💕✨
