What’s the easiest self-care hack?
Do you know your love language?
Stepping away from a life spent “coping” with alcohol opened a portal for me into a new realm of balance, self-compassion, and ::calm::
In learning more about the many legitimate methods of self-care—not associated with numbing or escape 😬 —I’ve discovered a whole *world* of eye-opening [and surprisingly simple] techniques to support Radical Self Care.
Radical, because in our society of hustle and grind, it’s a bold choice to step out of the *achievement game* and rest. 🧘♀️💕✨ …to put down the labels and politics of “success” and lean into an inherent sense of self-worth.
Conversations of Love Language typically refer to receiving love from partners, family, and friends…
BUT.
I’d like to offer a twist:
💗 If you like words of affirmation, can you write *yourself* a little post-it note of support? (Stick it to the bathroom mirror?)
💗 Acts of Service: Can you take some time to make that doctor’s appointment? Go through a carwash? Pack a nice lunch for tomorrow? ...how can you take care of *you?*
💗 Gifts is a fun one! Is there something special you could gift yourself today? 💐
💗 Quality time can look like a morning walk, or an evening on the couch with a good book. A few minutes of journaling or a long bath with some quiet music.
💗 And physical touch always gets a little wink, but seriously: Book a massage! Or even a haircut. Or snuggle up with a favorite pet.
Just pick something small and achievable that you can do for yourself today.
Speaking to yourself in your own love language is like the simplest HACK for self-care… and self-love.
It’s a red neon arrow pointing directly at your own heart❣️
